Brendan's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
I am excited to share with you that I am participating in the 2025 Student Visionaries of the Year campaign! Over the next 7 weeks, I will be working to raise money and awareness for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and their mission to cure blood cancers.
I became involved in this LLS Campaign to honor my aunt, Brittany Smith, who passed from Mixed Phenotype Acute Leukemia in January of 2024. Brittany impacted the lives of so many people in countless ways. She was always looking for ways to help others and never expecting anything in return. Aunt Brittany was a teacher and she always encouraged me to work hard and do things to help others. Throughout her 4-year cancer-treatment process, Brittany received support from LLS related to clinical trials.
This cause has become even more important to me and my family. My grandfather, Timothy Chairs, Sr., was diagnosed with Leukemia when he was just 32 years old. However, in 1997 he received a bone marrow transplant that gave him nearly 30 more years of life. He was able to see his own children grow up and gave me many good memories as my grandfather. He passed away just last week and although I am sad and will miss him tremendously, I am so grateful for the time that I had with him in my life.
Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.
As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:
- Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
- Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
- Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.
Aunt Brittany, Pops, and my 4 year old cousin- Brittany's daughter, Danni.
